Slumdog Millionaire - My View

To me, Slumdog Millionaire was a movie with good humour, an well edited story with slum life in mumbai being portrayed. I felt ashamed watching some of the events that happens in India being shown on screen. Some of the scenes include Communal fights, Child's eyes being blinded off for making use of the as beggars, young girls used for adultery, etc.,

At first, I felt that it was all facts that this movie was showing on screen and there was nothing wrong about it, until a scene that mentions about real india and a mention about american pride.

There was a scene wherein an a small boy who acts as a guide takes ameican tourists to a slum area wherein the car they had travelled is being looted by his fellow friends. when the boy was beaten by the driver of the car for the act, a dialog was said by the boy which portrays that looting event is a glimpse of real india.

The director here tries to bring down the reputation of an nation showcasing a set of events on which only a small portion of the people are involved. The funny part is the american touristers reply to the boy conveying that they will show the true nature of what America is all about and they give some money to the boy.

I see a sense of self pride exhibited here. I can give so many examples in my personal life where in i got cheated by some of the folks over here in america. It would be stupid, if i claim that people over here are bad, by few experiences that i had. The Director of the movie did the same mistake. Showing reality is good, but for that sense, commenting on what true india is and mentioning his coutries pride just shows the impact that india had on him. I guess he is probably jealous or impacted by the growth that India is on.

Am I an Atheist

This blog is to discuss on my thought about the belief in God. My thought process doesn't accept the presence of God but i still go to temples once a while and pray. It's a means through which i talk to myself. Do you think there is God?

Being a kid, i did beleive in God. What made me shed this belief off was a serious of events that happenned in my family. i was doing my fourth standard at that time, wherein all of my family members were admitted in hospital for various illness b'coz of which my family suffered both financial crunch. I used to think many a times, if god was there why is he letting my family suffer the pain we had undergone. This was the start.

My Defintion of God:

God is a imaginary illusion created by humans to have humans in control of themselves. When you are grown with a thought process that there is a power above you, you would try not to do unethical actions like murder, robbery etc., for the fear of God.

Moreover there is no evidence of existence of God (starting from Rama, krishna, Jesus etc.,). God has always been an image that power full humans used to control people. This is a wellversed technic that most of ancient kings used to control there kingdom.

Some of the questions that i have about God is, If god is there,

1. Why does natural disaster's happen and people die. Can't god stop it.
2. Why do some of the new born childrens have diseases. What wrong did they do? If God is there why is he letting that happen?
3. When ever a innocent is killed, why don't God save him or her.

I dont think anyone would have answers to these questions. Human history of thousands and thousands of years neither do have an answer for it. Do you have an reason for the same?

Love Marriage Vs Arranged Marriage

This is for sure an interesting topic to discuss. I have debated with many of my friends and most of them where on the other side of the coin supporting "Arranged Marriages".

My Definition of Love Marriage?

You get to know and understand a person and feel that you would jell together and try to make life out of each other.

My Definition of Arranged marriage?

You are either forced into a relationship or you opt out one out of limited choices you are given and try to make life out of each other.

A general comment is that Love marriages see only the positive side of people and later they get into troubles when they experience the negative side. My thought is this might not be true in all cases. The level of understanding the other people varies from person to person, the better you are understanding people, the better the chances of you getting a good person in to your life. Mistakes do happen , but you atleast had a freedom to think on your own and opt for it. Even if it doesn't work out later, it was your decision. I think that regretting for a decision you made is much better than someone else decision that you were forced in to.

In arranged marriages, you are forced to follow someone else decision (your family, society etc.,).
I have witnesssed some of my relatives who ended up in arranged marriage for the reasons of family pressure or social status and now facing relationship breakdowns . They just stick together for social recognition and to me there life's are ruined. The family of these people do feel that they made a wrong decision but they dont have the courage to make them break the fake relationship and let them make a new life there after.

I feel good when i see lot of love marriages happenning right now. But does our society completely recognises it? nope. We still have our father's generation sticking to arranged marriages out of shear social pressure they create among themselves. Atleast it's good that currently not all arranged marriages are forced and people can make there choices.

Let me know your comments on this. Happy to have posted my first blog.
